Gold Vermeil (pronounced ver-may) offers a good balance between affordability, durability, and a luxurious gold look, making it a popular choice for jewelry.

This pickleball bracelet is crafted in Sterling Silver and 18KY Gold Vermeil. There are 23, high quality, 6A grade cubic zirconia.
Sterling silver is the standard material used for the core of vermeil jewelry. Sterling silver is an alloy consisting of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper, for added strength and durability.
What is Plating?
Next, A layer of real gold is applied to the sterling silver base. This is called plating.
Minimum thickness for gold vermeil in the United States is 2.5 microns (about one-hundredth of a millimeter) according to the FCC and American Gem Society. This layer is significantly thicker than what you’d find in gold-plated jewelry. Five times thicker according to the PickleLuxe website.

The key difference between gold vermeil and gold plating lies in the thickness of the gold layer.
Gold plating typically uses a much thinner layer of gold (often less than 1.0 microns) on a base metal like brass or copper. This makes gold-plated jewelry less expensive but also less durable, as the gold layer can wear off more easily over time.
